Evacuation and charging of cooling systems

Refrigerators, air conditioners and cooling machines operate according to a thermodynamic cycle process, in which heat is transferred from the cooling cabinet to a warmer surrounding.

Requirements

A suitable refrigerant is used in the system's cooling circuit to transport the heat. Before filling the chiller for the first time and when refilling after maintenance work, the cooling circuit must first be completely evacuated to a pressure of around 10-3 mbar, as otherwise residual air and existing humidity can reduce the performance of the cooling system or even damage it. Furthermore, leaks in the cooling circuit must be avoided.

Suitable Products

VD84/2: The compact vacuum meter with Pirani sensor measures the residual pressure in the cooling circuit with the required resolution and accuracy. The leak rate of the system can be determined via a short pressure rise measurement. The handy device is easy to operate and ideal for use in the service and maintenance area. The measurement data can be saved and evaluated on a PC via the USB interface.

VD850: The VD850 digital vacuum meter with Piezo/Pirani sensor measures absolute and relative pressure over 7 decades in the rough and fine vacuum range. The leak rate is determined directly on the device by rate of rise measurement. The internal data logger stores several measurement series with their RTC data. All data can be transferred directly to a PC or tablet via USB-C or optional Bluetooth® LE.
