Gas dosing with ultraviolet lamps
The company Ultralight, based in the Principality of Liechtenstein, has a wealth of experience in the development and production of UV lamps and their components.
Challenge
The lamps are used in all common areas of UV polymerization, e.g. the printing industry, packaging and labelling, the electrical industry or for curing paints, varnishes, coatings and adhesives. Depending on the coating requirements, the lamps emit UV-A around 400 nm to UV-C around 250 nm. Various noble gases are required to manufacture the lamps.
Solution
During the manufacturing process, the filling quantity of noble gases is metered in a vacuum using the VSR53DL piezo/Pirani combination gauge. The filling quantity and gas type depend on the lamp type, the pressure range is a few 10 to 100 mbar absolute.
