Dilatometry
For the analysis of the thermal dilation of extremely large samples, Linseis Messgeräte GmbH has developed The Macro Dilatometer as a custom product. With very large sample materials it is not possible to find their structure in a small sample. This device even allows the analysis of large samples of up to 100 x 50 mm. The Macro Dilatometer is used, for example, to test the thermal expansion of refractory products. Heating the samples requires an oxygen-free atmosphere.
Challenge
A clean inert gas atmosphere is generated by completely evacuating the measuring chamber. During the entire process, the vacuum must be kept constant at 1e-5 mbar.
Solution
To monitor the vacuum in the measuring chamber, the precise VSP63DL Pirani vacuum transducer with integrated display is used. The measured values are transmitted to the Linseis analysis software via the 0-10 V interface of the vacuum transducer.
