The Swiss Technical College Winterthur (STFW) uses Thyracont vacuum measurement technology for its training on vacuuming refrigeration and heat pump systems.
The one-day course, taking place on several dates, uses the latest technology and plenty of practical experience to address industry-specific problems. Insufficiently vacuumed refrigeration and heat pump systems are difficult or impossible to detect once they have been put into operation. Moisture or gases remaining in the system lead to increased energy consumption and/or damage, including burn-out.
The course
During the training, the participants will work with their own tools on STFW models, each equipped with a Thyracont VSP63DL vacuum transducer. All models are displayed simultaneously in the Thyracont VacuGraphTM software for the participants to see which system performs best and why. An Excel calculation tool developed in cooperation with the local university is used to calculate the vacuuming time.
The practical knowledge gained in the course enables the participants to carry out efficient and targeted vacuuming and to logically interpret the resulting measurement values. Improved results minimize the risk of system failures and improve their service life and performance.
VSP63DL
The processor controlled VSP63DL Pirani vacuum transducer used by the SFTW with its robust helix filament is ideal for precise measurements in the fine vacuum range. An optimized temperature compensation results in stable measurements. The integrated metal screen protects the sensor against contamination such as oil and solvent vapors. Like all Smartline transducers, the VSP has a RS485 interface and either an additional 0-10 V output, EtherCat or PROFINET interface. The vacuum transducer can be connected to a PC and configured using a USB interface converter or a suitable controller. The Thyracont VacuGraphTM vacuum software is the optimum tool to analyze, visualize and save your measurement data. STFW connects all transducers to a training laptop via their RS-485 USB hub and visualizes the measured values live in the classroom using the VacuGraphTM software.
