Thyracont extends STEM support: three more years of partnership with the wissenswerkstatt Passau

Sponsoring wissenswerkstatt Passau -

We support hands-on technical education for children and young people in Passau – fostering early interest and guidance toward technical careers.

Technological innovation requires people who understand how physics, electronics and engineering interact – and this knowledge does not begin during vocational training or university.

In a highly specialized field such as vacuum metrology, this fundamental knowledge is essential. That is why we have extended our partnership with the wissenswerkstatt Passau for another three years.

The wissenswerkstatt Passau offers workshops, laboratories, and modern technology across 550 square meters – from metalworking and electronics to robotics. Children and young people experiment independently, build real products, learn from professionals, and experience what’s possible with technical know-how. The concept: not just understanding but doing. Hands-on, practical, and far beyond classroom learning. These experiences lay the foundation for future educational paths and career orientation in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

For us, this collaboration is more than sponsorship. It is a long-term commitment to strengthening technical skills in the region – and therefore a contribution to securing future specialists in areas such as sensor technology, measurement technology and industrial high-tech applications.

“Sparking curiosity about technical and scientific topics in young people is very important to us. The wissenswerkstatt Passau does excellent work in this regard,” emphasizes Frank P. Salzberger, Managing Director of Thyracont Vacuum Instruments.

During a recent visit, Mr. Salzberger was able to gain first-hand insight into the current projects and educational programmes.
