Girls' Day 2025 @ Thyracont

Under the motto ” Die Zukunft gehört dir “– The Future is Yours – five girls took Girls’ Day as a chance to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of sensor technology and electronics while gaining hands-on experience.

For the second time, Thyracont opened its doors for Girls’ Day to give young women an exciting insight into technical professions.

“It is inspiring to see young talents taking an interest in technology and gaining their first practical experience,” emphasizes CEO Frank P. Salzberger. “A career orientation free from stereotypes is essential to ensure that innovation and progress remain the foundation of our society in the future.”

Die Idea of Girls‘ Day

Girls’ Day provides girls with a valuable opportunity to explore professions that are still predominantly male-dominated. The goal is to spark an early interest in technical, craft, and IT-related careers while showcasing the diversity of the different career paths.

According to a study by the Competence Center for Career and Life Planning, around 78% of participants consider Girls’ Day a valuable experience for learning about careers and gaining hands-on insights.

Thyracont also focused on practical insights whilst presenting the activities and requirements of two  exciting professions: electronics technician for devices and systems and developer for hardware and software.

Hands-On Experience: Technology Up Close

After a brief introduction to the world of vacuum technology and a tour through the company, the participants got to work themselves:

  • Soldering Workshop: The girls used a soldering iron to build a small reaction game that promotes concentration and dexterity.
  • Programming Workshop: the girls programmed exciting applications for a mini-computer, including a pedometer and a rock-paper-scissors gadget.

The enthusiasm was great – both in working with technical materials and hen experimenting creatively with electronics and software. At the end of the day, the participants were able to take both projects home with them as a souvenir.

A Day Full of Inspiration and Opportunities

The feedback from the girls was throughout positive. “The workshops were very interesting, I particularly enjoyed the soldering. Overall, the day was very helpful to get an idea of the activities.,” one participant shared enthusiastically.

Girls’ Day also has once again been a valuable initiative for Thyracont. “It is a fantastic opportunity to inspire young talents early on for technical careers,” says Salzberger. “We look forward to continuing to support young people in discovering their potential and showing them that they can actively shape the technology industry.”

Thus, Girls’ Day 2025 was not only a glimpse into the future for the participants – but also an important step toward an innovative and equal-opportunity work environment.
