Out of the office and into nature: for our 2026 company trip, the Thyracont team spent an eventful day in “Bavarian Canada” in the Viechtach region.
At 7:30 am, our bus set off towards Adventure Camp Schnitzmühle. The area in the Bavarian Forest between Teisnach and Viechtach is often referred to as “Bavarian Canada” – and for good reason: with the clear waters of the Regen river, dense forests, and rocky riverbanks, the landscape is reminiscent of Canada.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a generous breakfast – the perfect start to the day.
Canoeing, Hiking, and Culture
After breakfast, the team split into groups:
Group 1 set off on a 2.5-hour canoe tour on the Schwarzer Regen. In three-person canoes, we paddled along scenic forests and rocky slopes.
Group 2 took the forest railway to Gumpenried and hiked back along the river. About halfway along the route, the trail splits – following the railway line we experienced the surrounding nature up close.
Group 3 joined a guided tour of the Gläserne Scheune in Viechtach and then continued to the Großer Pfahl, a nature reserve where the visible section of a 150-kilometer-long quartz reef is particularly impressive.
A Day That Brings Us Together
As is often the case with outdoor activities, not everything went according to plan: traffic delays, forestry work, and the occasional unexpected canoe capsize added a touch of adventure to the day.
These small challenges led to plenty of shared laughs and made the experience all the more memorable. The planned team-building session in the afternoon quite literally fell through – but it certainly didn’t dampen our team spirit.
Once everyone had safely returned from their activities, we wrapped up the day with a shared lunch before heading back to Passau.
The day once again showed how valuable shared experiences are for a strong team – and how much energy they bring back into everyday work.
